Located inside what used to be the old Stamford Town Hall, constructed in 1874, the Museum itself is a historical landmark in its own right. The Niagara Falls History Museum has recently undergone large amounts of renovations in order to preserve the legendary building as well as an addition to house three new galleries. The building is not the only historical landmark, the land itself is the site where the Battle of Lundy’s Lane occurred during the War of 1812 and Drummond Hill Cemetery is only a couple minutes away.
If you’ve ever wondered what early life was like in rural Niagara, then the Willoughby Historical Museum is a must see. The Museum itself is placed inside an old schoolhouse located in a quaint rural area of Niagara Falls. All guests have the opportunity to see what tools, furniture and heirlooms of everyday life looked like in the early nineteenth century.
Prepare to be transported back to 19th century Niagara, as you witness re-enactments of life as it was almost 200 years ago. The Museum was fashioned inside a preserved tavern that dates back to the 1850s and is located on the Battlefield of Lundy’s Lane.
Visitors have the chance to see preserved artifacts from the War of 1812 and can also tour the tavern that has been restored to replicate what it would have looked like during the 19th century. For the greatest view of the battlefield, guests can climb up an observation tower and have a bird’s eye view of the battlefield from the lookout deck.

The legendary Lundy’s Lane battlefield should be a part of any trip to Niagara. With all the Museums located close to the battlefield, it only makes sense to include this adventure as part of your day. The Battle of Lundy’s Lane was one of the most important and bloodiest battles of the war and you can walk on the very same field as those soldiers did many years ago.
